About our speaker:

Sandra is a motivated and energetic insurance expert, educator, and leader who is passionate about serving a range of clients, from families of modest means to multimillion-dollar organizations. Her life work has been to further the financial wealth and economic literacy of individuals, businesses and organizations through financial education and the delivery of high caliber insurance and financial products and cutting-edge industry solutions. As the owner of Dehan Enterprises Insurance & Financial Services LLC, the company’s goal is to assist clients in the creation, accumulation, and protection of wealth. With more than thirty years as a professional insurance and financial services representative, she specializes in commercial insurance risks, group and employee benefits, individual medical plans and surety and fidelity bonds.
As a female, African American independent insurance agency owner, in an industry with approximately 3% of all agency owners being African American, Sandra is a trail blazer. She daily represents female leadership as a business owner, an industry leader, an employer, an association leader, and a mentor. Sandra has employed, developed, and mentored numerous female industry stars who are impacting the industry today.
She is the founder and convener of ObamaCare Jams Healthcare Open Enrollment event that has connected thousands of families with medical coverage. She currently serves as the President of the Ohio Association of Health Underwriters and regularly provides business insurance training to business start-ups and entrepreneurs through the Ohio Small Business Development Centers and other small business support organizations.
Sandra is an Adjunct Professor of Insurance and Risk Management at Franklin University (Columbus, Ohio) where she introduces students to opportunities in the insurance industry and how this product is the foundation to financial security. For approximately twenty years, she has regularly ranked in the top percentile determined by student evaluations and was recently awarded the Franklin University Teaching Excellence Award.
Sandra is an ambitious and driven professional. She has acquired a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from Macalester College (St Paul Minnesota), an M.B.A. in Finance from Atlanta University (now, Clark Atlanta), an Ohio Life Insurance License, and an Ohio Property & Casualty License. In addition, she is a Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow, a Certified Long-Term Care Specialist, a Certified Professional Insurance Agent, a Certified Health Care Marketplace Broker, and a graduate of the Amos Tuck Minority Business Executive Program from Dartmouth College. She has been recognized with many accolades over the years and most notable one of the 2017 Columbus Business First People to Watch in Insurance, the Grange Life Insurance Company President’s Award recipient for numerous years, the Leading Producers Round Table recognition from the National Association of Health Underwriters, the 2020 National Coalition of 100 Black Women Central Ohio Chapter Trailblazer Award and the 2020 Central Ohio African American Chamber of Commerce Heritage Award.
Sandra is a devoted wife, mother and grandmother with a love for people, family and community.
